Are research peptides legal?+
In most of the EU, UK and US, peptides classified strictly as in-vitro laboratory research compounds are legal to possess and study. They are not approved medicines, and nothing on this site is guidance for human use.
How is purity verified in peptide research?+
Independent laboratories use High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to measure main-peak purity, usually alongside mass spectrometry to confirm molecular weight. The resulting Certificate of Analysis lists purity, method, batch ID and test date.
How should lyophilised peptides be stored?+
Sealed freeze-dried vials are typically stable for roughly 8-12 months at 2-8 °C, and longer at -20 °C. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, material is generally kept refrigerated and protected from light, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
What is bacteriostatic water and why is it used?+
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which suppresses bacterial growth in multi-use vials. It is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilised peptides in laboratory settings.
How do you read a certificate of analysis?+
Check that the batch number on the COA matches the vial, that the method is stated (HPLC and MS), that the main-peak purity figure is legible, and that the issuing laboratory is independent of the manufacturer.
What is the difference between HPLC and mass spectrometry?+
HPLC separates the sample and quantifies how much of it is the target compound. Mass spectrometry confirms the compound's identity by molecular weight. Read together they answer both 'is it the right molecule' and 'how pure is it'.
What is the difference between GLP-1, dual and triple agonists?+
A GLP-1 mono-agonist activates one incretin receptor. Dual agonists add GIP receptor activity, and triple agonists also recruit the glucagon receptor, broadening the pharmacology observed in research models.
