Research brief · Supplies

Bacteriostatic Water

Sterile liquid diluent (0.9% benzyl alcohol) — 10 ml × 10 vials.

Class

Reconstitution diluent

Half-life

N/A — solvent

Studied in

Standard reconstitution diluent for lyophilised research peptides.

What it is

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It is the default diluent for reconstituting lyophilised research peptides where multi-day vial use is anticipated. Supplied as a sterile liquid — 10 ml per vial, 10 vials per kit (100 ml total). It is not a powder.

Mechanism studied

Sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol to inhibit microbial growth across multi-vial research use.

Research notes

  • Supplied as a sterile liquid: 10 ml per vial, 10 vials per kit. It is not a powder.
  • Once reconstituted, vials are typically stored refrigerated for the protocol's stability window.
  • Use acetic acid instead for hydrophobic peptides that will not fully dissolve.

Before sourcing any material

  • Confirm a lot-matched third-party certificate of analysis (HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity).
  • Check the stated peptide content per vial, not just the gross vial mass.
  • Plan reconstitution volumes first so the vial size matches your protocol.
  • Verify what is lawful in your jurisdiction — these are in-vitro research reagents, not medicines.

Independent publication — we sell nothing. Supplier disclosure

Peptide Intel Hub is an independent educational publication. We are not affiliated with, owned by, or the same company as Regena Peptides and Regena.app (regena-peptides.com / regena.app). We do not sell, supply, ship or take payment for any compound. Because readers regularly ask where compounds discussed in published studies can be sourced for laboratory work, we list Regena Peptides and Regena.app as suppliers we have verified and trust — every batch is released with a lot-matched third-party certificate of analysis (HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity).
